    World War II:

    WWII Resources
    Provides a primary source document collection with books and several hundred individual documents relating to WWII. The Pearl Harbor Archives hold more than 5,000 pages of documents, exhibits, and testimonies surrounding the attack on Pearl Harbor . ( University of North Carolina , Chapel Hill , NC )

    Asian - Pacific Americans in the U.S. Army
    Describes the participation of Japanese-American soldiers in the U.S. Army during World War II. Through photographs and narratives the site tells the story of the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, two of the most decorated combat units of World War II. Both units were staffed exclusively with Japanese-American soldiers commanded by white officers. Many of the soldiers were recruited from internment camps, where their families spent the war.     Covering events from 1918 to 1945, this site includes pre-war assessments and intelligence, cryptography studies, and even the actual German and Japanese surrender documents.     Includes primary source documents, artwork and images from World War II, special sections on the racial integration of the Armed Forces, and the Normandy Invasion from the perspective of the United States Army; also includes links to other military web sites.     United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

    USC Shoah Foundation Institute
    Examines the history of the Holocaust through eyewitness testimony and online exhibits. Choose Education to access a printable Holocaust timeline and glossary along with other resources specifically designed for classroom use by teachers and students.     Simon Wiesenthal Center
    Provides an extensive multimedia learning center, teacher resources, virtual exhibits, and a resource/library page that contains a glossary, a time line, and responses to questions about denials of the Holocaust. (The Simon Wiesenthal Los Angeles , CA )

    Nagasaki Journey
    Click on "The Photographs of Yosuke Yamhata" for a powerful photo essay taken only a day or two after the devastation caused by the bombing of Nagasaki . Text sections with commentary, reactions, and suggested resources are also available. ( Exploratorium Museum , San Francisco , CA )

    World War II: The Homefront
    Provides documentary primary sources (photographs, greeting cards, posters, advertisements, etc.) that address major themes of the war such as the participation of women in war industries and the armed forces, race relations, government propaganda, the impact of the war on family relationships, the switch from consumer to military production by American industry and visions of the coming "utopian" postwar society.     Abraham Lincoln Online
    Offers Lincoln's speeches and writings, links to the historic places associated with Lincoln , and an excellent collection of frequently asked questions with web link references. (Abraham Lincoln Online, Des Moines , IA )

    History Now: Lincoln
    Provides scholarly articles, lesson plans, and other resources on the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln in the Media, available in the Interactive History section, features illustrations and political cartoons showcasing public opinion during the Civil War era.     The Time of the Lincolns
    Provides a companion site to the PBS documentary Abraham and Mary Lincoln: A House Divided. Their life in the White House is explored against the background of the Civil War.     The Selected Civil War Photographs Collection
    Contains 1,118 photographs. Most of the images were made under the supervision of Mathew B. Brady, and include scenes of military personnel, preparations for battle, and battle aftereffects.
