**The
Books-A-Million Creative Writing Scholarship is open to all high
school students. The prize is a $5,000 scholarship for college and the
publication of the winning book. To receive additional information,

for the electronic application. This scholarship was inspired by a
children's book project by a Hoover High School senior. Meek students

StraightForward
Media Scholarships-These scholarships are awarded
for a variety of career interests. Deadlines also

*Bethel College Hendrix Scholarship Competition-Students who compete
successfully in the Hendrix Competition may receive a scholarship ranging
from $1,000 to full tuition and room and board. In order to compete, the
student must be a high school senior with at least a 3.25 GPA and a
24/1090 or above ACT/SAT score. See Mrs. Archer for more
information.
APRIL:
*Traders and Farmers Bank Scholarship ($750.00)-Write an essay describing your career plans, goals, and why you deserve to be awarded the $750.00 scholarship from Traders and Farmers Bank.

*Traditions Bank Scholarship-Krista Williams Memorial Scholarship ($1,000.00)
Write an essay explaining why this $1,000 scholarship will help you further your education and what it would mean to you to receive this scholarship.

*Meek High School Alumni Association Scholarship-Write an essay explaining what Meek High School means to you. (amount undetermined)

*T.J. Ganey Memorial Scholarship-An application with additional requirements is located in Mrs. Archer’s office. Special consideration is given to applicants who are actively involved in church activities and participate in extra-curricular activities and athletics.

*The Ruth Wadsworth Memorial Scholarship ($500.00) does not require an application, essay, recommendation letters, etc. This scholarship is chosen by the faculty and is presented to a deserving senior boy or girl who may have not received any type of scholarship.
*TheWalker County Homebuilders Association Scholarship is available for students interested in pursuing careers related to construction. Ex. carpentry, electrical
technology, drafting and design, landscaping/horticulture, heating and cooling, etc. For an application, see Mrs. Archer.

*Scholarship Award in Vision and
Medicine-SAVM is committed to offering
scholarships to students from underrepresented minority groups or students
who are economically disadvantaged, thereby encouraging these students to
seek careers in medicine and visual sciences. Applicants must have a
weighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, minimum ACT of 21, submit a 1500-1700
word essay and complete the online application at
www.muhealth.org.

**Cullman Electric Cooperative Scholarship
applications are now available in Mrs. Archer's office. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded
to a graduating senior from our school. The valedictorian and salutatorian are
not eligible to apply for this award.

*There is an additional scholarship offered through the Electric
Cooperative that is an at-large scholarship for any qualifying student. I
do not yet have these applications. I'll let you know as soon as I
receive them.
*The Arley Woman's Club "Outstanding Citizen" Scholarship- This
scholarship will be awarded to one Meek High School Senior who best meets
the criteria as outlined below and who has proven to be an outstanding
citizen within the community. To qualify, three steps will be required:
1) Community Service Activities; 2) Written Essay; 3) Letters of
Recommendation. The application packet was made available to all seniors
on November 28th and extra applications may be received from Mrs. Archer.

***Alabama American Legion Auxililary
Scholarship-Applicants must be AL residents and children or
grandchildren of veterans of WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam Conflict, Beirut/Granada Emergency, Panama
Emergency, and Operation Desert Shield/Storm. The students must send a SASE to Dept. Headquarters, American Legion
Auxiliary, Department of Alabama, 120 N Jackson Street, Montgomery, AL

Rand Institute essay competition-11th and 12th
graders may choose an essay topic on The

*The Educational Communications Scholarship is a counterpart of the
well-known publication, Who's Who Among American High School Students. A
minimum of 61 scholarships will be distrubuted to meritorious students who
may use the award to fund their education at any accredited,
post-secondary institution in the field of study of their choice. To

in Huntsville. Scholarships will be offered in the amount of $1,000 to be

*Sam Walton Community Scholarship-Interested seniors should apply at
www.walmartfoundation.org. Students should have at least a 2.5 GPA and
will need to use the ACCESS key SWCS when applying. This scholarship is

***J. Craig and Page T. Smith Scholarship-Special
consideration will be given to applicants who would be the first in either their mother's
or father's families to attend college. Applicants must have
documented community and civic-oriented activities or have provided special assistance

**The Alabama Home Builders Foundation is offering
scholarships to qualified students across the state who plan to pursue a degree in a
construction-related field. Ex. electrician, plumbing, heating

**SAMMY Scholar Athlete Award-AKA Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year
award-From now until March 9, 2007, teachers, coaches, principals,
guidance counselors, athletic directors, parents, and relatives are
encouraged to nominate a student athlete for the SAMMY 2007 Award. High
school seniors may also nominate themselves. Applications will be
