Parent Update 4/9/07

The tiebreaker game with Speake will be played on Thursday Apr 12 @ Addison at 5:00.

Thursday April 12th physicals will be administered at school by Integrity, free of charge. Forms to be signed by parents are available in the main office and must be brought on physical day.

Friday April 13th we play WCHS at home beginning at 4:30. There will be V&B game.

Wed April 25th is picture day. There is a game the night before so everyone needs to plan on getting those uniforms ready when they get home on Tuesday night. Picture order forms have been handed out. Pictures must be paid for on the day of the shoot.

Thursday April 19th is the day of the County Track Meet.

Playoffs begin Tuesday, April 24th. Away or home in the first round will be determined by the outcome of the Speak tiebreaker game.

Parent Update 3/5/07

Parents,
I would like to begin by thanking you all for adapting to the schedule changes this past week. We added the B-team double header with Curry last Friday to give some of the younger guys an additional opportunity to play and get some experience. We thought the round robin on Saturday was a great opportunity for our varsity team to get two games in instead of one that was originally scheduled for Friday night. Since they won’t get another chance to play again before the county tournament next weekend we believed it was for the best. However, we had no idea that the weather was going to turn out the way it did and we apologize for the adverse conditions our boys had to endure. We would like to thank all of you who braved the cold and the wind to support the team. 
I would also like to mention that last Friday the JH boys were instructed to report the field after school for practice even though we had games set to begin at 4:00. We had a few that chose to go home. If your son was one of these players we would like to ask you to re-emphasize the importance of practice attendance and following instructions. I would add that we still have one or two JH players who seem to periodically miss practice without providing any justifiable excuse for absence. This behavior will result in loss of playing time. Please remind your son of this.
There will be upcoming schedule changes again. Due to weather, schedule conflicts, and the fact that two teams who were scheduled to field teams in our area have dropped their teams for this year. As a result of their actions, we now have four open dates and are trying to fill those dates. We have already filled one of the dates by scheduling (2) Varsity Games with Curry on Monday April 16th away. The start time will be 4:00. 
I was informed last week that due to S.A.T. testing dates, three JH games on April 2, 3, and 9th would have to be canceled or rescheduled for another date. We are doing our best to reschedule those games. 
The county track meet date was also announced last week. Unfortunately for us, it falls on a date when we were scheduled to play Addison away on Thursday, April 19th. We have already rescheduled those games for March 29 (away). However, instead of playing a Varsity DH it will be one varsity game and one JH game beginning with the varsity game at 5:00.

This weeks events:

NO VARSITY GAMES MO.-FRI (due to grad exam) Varsity will practice every day.

Mo. 3/5/07 
· JH will travel to Addison. Start time will be 5:00
· This game was originally scheduled for (2) 5 inning games but may be changed to (1) 7 inning game due to expected temperatures. 
· Varsity will practice

Tues: 3/6/07 
· The JH is scheduled to play Addison (2) 5 inning games at home beginning at 4:00. 
· This start time is different from the original schedule. 
· Varsity will practice
Wed: 3/7/07 
· JH will practice at 3:15 
· Varsity practice at 4:15.

Thurs: 3/8/07 
· JH and Varsity will practice. 
· Times will be announced at school later in the week.

Fri: 3/9/07 JH County Tournament will begin @ Lynn. (single elimination)
· We are scheduled to play WCJHS in the County Tournament. 
· The estimated start time for our game is 6:30 and the bus departure time will be announced later in the week.
· Varsity will practice and JH players will be instructed on what time to report for the bus later in the week.

Sat: 3/10/07 JH County Championship & First day of Varsity County Tournament @ Lynn
· V Tournament will be double elimination
· If JH wins on Friday, we will play in the championship on Sat. morning (est. start time 10:00)
· Varsity will play WCHS following the JH Championship Game (est. start time 1:00). If we lose we will play again at 7:00 P.M.
· A bracket with times will be distributed later in the week. 
· V. Co Tn. Continues through Mo. & Tues March 12th & 13th 

Fundraising: 
1. Players need to turn in their uniform money as soon as possible.
2. The raffle ticket sales are underway and many of the boys & parents have got off to a great start with this effort. Additional tickets are available if needed.
