We just completed AMSTI science lessons 3-5. We learned that there are
different types of soils. We used four senses to observe and experiment
with three soils: sand, clay, and humus.

We learned that clay is made up of the smallest particles and will roll
into a ball easily when it's wet.

We also learned that physical and chemical changes affect rocks. Over
time, rocks are broken down into smaller and smaller particles forming
soil. We learned that this is how clay and sand are made.

Humus is made up of dead plants and animals. It helps plants grow, and we
noticed that humus is the "stinkiest" of the soils.
