My ultimate goal is that students
become independent life long learners. It is my
responsibility to set up an environment that encourages
thinking, responsibility, cooperation and creativity. In
this environment children feel comfortable to express their
own ideas and opinions. This environment requires daily
interaction and discussion of issues where the children are
the center and I am a participant and a mediator. This
environment teaches the children that their ideas are worthy
of discussion and will be taken into consideration. When
children feel free to take risks they are not inhibited by
the threat of failure and are confident in their abilities
as a learner. I want children to be able to think for
themselves, explore their own ideas and respect others.
Therefore, I serve as the facilitator in learning while the
children act upon the learning environment.
