Diploma Requirements
Students are required to have at least 24 credits to
graduate. Credits are earned during 9th -12th grades. Credit
classes are given a half credit each semester. At the end of a
student’s 8th grade year, it is time for parents and students to
choose a plan for which diploma track the students will take. It
is important to make an informed decision, so the following
information has been provided to assist in making a decision:
Students will take the required four core subjects each year
from 9th -12th grade; however, there are some distinct
differences in the specific courses that may be taken. Also
there are different electives provided and/or required according
to the diploma choice.
If any credit classes are failed, credit is not given for those
classes; therefore, classes will need to be made up through
summer school or correspondence courses. One requirement for
Advanced Diploma is that all classes must be taken on campus.
Students must pass all parts of the Alabama High School
Graduation Exam in order to graduate for both the Standard and
Advance Diploma.
Students who choose the Standard Diploma Track will attend the
Winston County Technical Center during their 10th, 11th, and
12th grade years.
Graduation Exam Dates
The Alabama High School Graduation Exam will be given this
fall for the following students:
· Students who finished high school and need to take any exams
· 12th grade – as needed
· 10th grade – math test for students who passed Algebra I in
9th grade
· 10th grade – science test for those who passed biology in 9th
grade
· 11th grade – any students who were absent during the March
testing
